| I know there is another post regarding upgrading tire size, but that is for the newer model with the 20"s. I have the 02 with 265/70r17's. But I want larger tires for the same rim. Any suggestions? I was looking into either the wrangler or BFG series, either MT or AT's. How big can I go without any rubbing? Oh and one more thing. Last month it started to sound like I had mud tires on the front end. It humms very loudly to the point of mild annoyance. I know it isn't the tires as they are just normal street tires, not MT's. And when the weight of the vehicle shifts left (like going around a right turn) it's quiet. But the second the weight it back to the center it is humming again. I just had new tire rods, bushings, shocks, etc done on it. Plus alignment. any clue?

| Thanks for tips. I was at a complete loss for those two. I will give it a shot. Any help would be appreciated. It also groans and squeaks like an old fart when turning. (is it bad struts?) But the power steering fluid is good. heck if I know. |

| I have 285/70/17 in my '03. i got a price for BFG All terrains for around 1100 bucks, and the Mud terrains were around 1300! The 17 in rim on the fx4 is an odd size and the tires are expensive. So i went with cheap ass Firestone Destinations for 700 bucks mounted. Good luck guy....Oh and by the way, no rub at all. |

| Hey Smokin do you have rear disc brakes? If so I'm guessing you didn't have any clearance issues with the 16s. I am asking this because I would like to downsize too but I didn't know about the rear discs. Oh and sorry to hijack your thread texan. |
